What is SBDM and how can I be involved?
The Site Based Decision Making Committee (SBDM) is an advisory committee made up of faculty, staff, parents and community schools. SBDM helps make decisions about many things happening at Mata including academic, social and community issues.
There are several ways to participate:
Attend meetings! All SBDM meetings are open to observers. SBDM meeting dates for 2017-18 are: August 15, 2017, Sept. 26, 2017, Oct. 24, 2017, Nov. 28, 2017; Jan. 30, 2018; Feb. 27, 2018, April 24, 2018 (Elections for 2018-19 committee), and May 28, 2018. Anyone is welcome to attend an SBDM main committee meeting, unless it has been declared a ‘closed meeting’. However, non-committee member attendees may not speak at the meeting, unless they have contacted the Mata front office 24 hours in advance of the meeting to be officially placed on the agenda. We ask that you limit your comments to just a few minutes.
All meetings are from 5pm to 6pm in the Mata library.
Serve on a sub-committee! Mata’s four sub- committees have “open enrollment.” Subcommittees are working groups and all interested parents are encouraged to participate and serve on a Sub-Committee. You do not need to be a member of the main committee to serve on a sub-committee. If you have an interest in serving on a sub-committee, please contact the Chair of that committee at the contact information below to find out when these meetings take place and for more information.
