Mata Montessori is looking for Reading Partners! The non-profit organization trains volunteer tutors to work one-on-one with students who are 1 month to 2.5 years behind grade-level in their reading. The method involves pulling students out of their classes twice a week for 45 minute sessions.
Reading Partners has been making an impact at Mata since the program launched in the Dallas region in 2012. Tutoring sessions take place Monday through Thursday between 8:10 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. Reading Partners has a structured curriculum used across the nation in its Reading Centers, so volunteers are provided with step-by-step guides and lessons along with countless resources to help their students succeed and narrow the achievement gap.
To learn more or sign up as a tutor, visit the Reading Partners website and fill out the online form to set up a session with the Mata Montessori coordinator. Reading Partners volunteers also need to go through the Dallas ISD background check.
