Parents learned tools to stay present with their child and other loved ones at the December Community Coffee, which was led by Mata parent and DISD social worker Kiki Yardeni. If you missed the overview of Social Emotional Learning, check out the presentation and suggestions for authentic relating games.
The Knockouts, Mata’s rockin’ varsity Modern Band group, performed on Dec. 5th at the Gaylord Hotel in Grapevine. They rocked an audience of over 3,200 educators from across the country. They were the only group that was invited to perform at The Learning Forward’s Annual Conference. The Knockouts played an original song as well as some familiar singalongs. They really worked hard for this show and look forward to perform more soon.
The last few years we have used an annual check-writing campaign to raise money for our school in place of selling gift wrap or cookie dough, for example. This year, we are excited to reduce our campaign to a one day giving extravaganza supported by the Communities Foundation of Texas called “North Texas Giving Day” on September 20 (but you may start scheduling your gift today). All of the money raised on this day will go directly to our school to buy materials, fund teacher requests, etc.
Here’s how you can join the movement:
1. Get up and give on September 20th!
Your gift matters. On September 20th if you donate to Mata Montessori between 6am and midnight your dollar will be stretched with bonus funds and prizes raised by Communities Foundation of Texas.
Not available on September 20? No worries! Schedule your donation between September 10 and September 19 and make your gift count.
2. Spread the word!
Spread the word to your friends and loved ones about Mata and North Texas Giving Day by sharing our giving page.
Veteran parent volunteers will help make student drop-off during the first week of school a smooth experience. Follow their lead as they direct traffic. You can also volunteer to assist them by signing up here.
